A local move is charged by the hour. This rate usually includes a van and 2 men.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO MOVE FROM CALIFORNIA TO NEW JERSEY?
The charge for a distance move is based on the mileage and weight of the shipment. Required or requested additional services must also be charged. It is best to have an estimator come to your residence and make a visual inspection of your goods and the required services.

DOES THOMAS TRANSFER AND STORAGE COMPANY ONLY HANDLE CORPORATE MOVES?
No, we can also do independent moves, but the majority of our moves are through corporate contracts.

DO I NEED TO BE PRESENT WHEN MY BELONGINGS ARE BEING PACKED, LOADED AND DELIVERED?
Yes, either you or a designated representative needs to be present.

CAN I RIDE WITH THE DRIVER TO MY DESTINATION?
No, due to insurance liability problems this is not allowed.

CAN I DO SOME OF MY OWN PACKING AND WOULD THAT BE COVERED BY VALUATION?
Yes, you may do some or all of your own packing. If the driver notices that something is not packed well, he may recommend that you repack it, or he can do it for an hourly charge. Every item accepted by the driver is covered by the valuation applied to your shipment.

CAN I HELP DELIVER MY BELONGINGS AT THE DESTINATION?
No, due to insurance liability problems this is not allowed.

WILL MY COMPANY PAY FOR THE STORAGE OF MY BELONGINGS?
Most companies pay for 30 to 60 days of storage and the delivery to your new residence. If the storage period exceeds the authorized days, the additional charges become the responsibility of the shipper. Be sure to review your company's storage policy before the move.

I NEED TO GET SOME ITEMS OUT OF STORAGE. IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Yes, but there is an additional hourly charge. It is best to plan ahead and set those items aside when your belongings are being packed and loaded at the origin.

CAN MY BELONGINGS BE DELIVERED TO A MINI-STORAGE?
Yes, your driver will unload your shipment at the entrance to your self-storage unit. You can then place them inside safely.
